Welcome
My name is Jeff Seeton and I want to be your city councillor. I am running for Ottawa city council because I believe it is time for someone new to take the lead in Kanata North. We need a hard working leader with new ideas and a new vision of a greater Kanata. I am that person.
I bring with me experience, energy, and a proven track record. I am the president and owner of JobMatcher.ca, a national recruiting and consulting agency that is based here in Kanata. In addition, I have spent the last several years on the board of directors for the Kanata Food Cupboard and as the president of the Village Green / Kanata Town Centre Community Association. I have a solid record of getting things done.
We can not continue to do things the same way and expect different results. Ottawa city council has been dysfunctional, at best, for the last 4 years and changes are needed. Four years ago the big election issue was the Light Rail System. Council cancelled the original deal, paid out $37 Million of your dollars, in a settlement to the company that held the original contract, and they are still fighting about the issue. These people need to wake-up, this is our money that they are spending.
The proposed development of the Kanata Beaver Pond lands (South March Highlands) is troubling to me. What makes matters worse is that the person who negotiated with the developers to allow this land to be developed is none other than our current city councillor. How could anyone take her seriously in the negotiations to save these lands knowing that she agree with the development in the first place? Could you blame them?
We can ill afford to live in the past and make the same mistakes that have been made time and again. With me as your city councillor the future of Kanata North will be one of a solid community full of beautiful parks and neighborhoods that are safe, clean and viable. A community that is not faced with never ending tax increases and levies.
Change does not come easy, I will need your support. Please vote Jeff Seeton for city councillor on October 25, 2010.
Thank you
